I got a bit bored yesterday from the extreme weather (100+ degrees outside) so I browse around Youtube. Came across a video on Green Onion Pancake and immediately thought about the time when I ordered some as an appetizer from a Chinese restaurant. It’s been so long that I can’t really recall the flavors. So I clicked on the video and began to watch. Her accent got me watching all the way through. I find it interesting
but I really have to pay attention though because if I get a bit side track then it’s like I hear her speaking Chinese instead. After watching I remember that I have all those ingredients right now and I can try to make it. It looks easy and delicious so off I go to the kitchen.
My comments?
It’s very easy to make. The taste is a bit bland but with the addition of my soy & vinegar dip (ratio 1 soy : ½ vinegar) the flavors went up about 2 notches.
What came in mind as I was eating it was Cambodian Crepe/Pancake known as Banh Cheo. It might be a quick and easy substitute for the dough outside. Another use I can think of would be with curry dishes. Similar to how flat bread is used to mop the curry sauce. Matter of fact, I might just try that the next time I make Curry Chicken.
Here are my ingredients.
