The other day I had a very late lunch so I didn’t feel like getting all elaborate on my dinner. Instead I put together some ground pork and seasonings and stuffed it inside the wonton sheets to create this cute little bundle of good-some.
A little goes a long way and these fried wontons គៀវចៀន are no exception. Four tablespoons of ground pork and I was able to make over 20 wontons. That’s a meal for two! While there are so many different ways to fold the wontons I opt to use this bundle method as I thought it was pretty easy just to gather-and-twist them together. You can however use other methods. I also got a little help with a store-bought sweet chili sauce for dipping instead of trying to make it myself.
Ingredients
21 wonton sheets
4 tablespoons ground pork
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons fish sauce
1 tablespoon green onion, finely chopped
a dash of white pepper
2 cups of oil for frying
sweet chili sauce for dipping
Method:
Make the filling by combining ground pork, sugar, soy sauce, fish sauce, green onion and half of the beaten egg.
Place a teaspoon size of pork filling on the center on a wonton sheet. Use your index finger to dab the other half of the beaten egg and trace it around the filling. This works like a glue to hold the wonton together. Bring the corners together and twist the center.
Heat 2 cups of oil and deep fried the wontons until golden brown. Drain on paper towel and serve hot with sweet chili sauce.

how do you make the sweet chili sauce?
Betty,
The sweet chili sauce was store-bought.
