Nail Art | Plumeria Flower Design

My previous Watermelon Design lasted about 1 week until the top portion (green & white) started to chip off. That was when I began to peel it off and then remove the rest with some nail polish remover. I think it probably would last a bit longer if I had not pick on it too much. For some reason I enjoy peeling off nail polish rather than wiping it with remover, weird? Last week I had a couple of designs in mind but some were a bit time consuming so I ended up going with this pretty Plumeria Flower. My inspiration and guide came from Google. Actually I was looking for some wallpaper and came across these flowers. Aren’t they pretty?

So, here is my attempt to try an put this flower on my nails. Since the petals are light, I choose a bright pinkish polish as a base.

I used a combination of drug store nail polish,  polish that I got on eBay and brushes to achieve this design. I’m not so fond of the built in brushes on the polish. They were a bit flimsy. The brushes that I used were regular paint brushes that I got from Michael’s Craft Store kid section. It gives me a better control when working on the designs. They are pretty affordable too. A pack of like 6-7 brushes cost about $5.

Method:
1. Apply base coat – Rimmel base (I love this one, it has a light pinkish tone. I sometime wear it alone. I like it more than the clear ones because it give a nice natural looking and not too shiny or washed out.) You can use any of your favorite base. This is so that the color you put on top does not stain your nail bed. Also fills ridges and provide a smooth surface to work with.
2. Apply main color – Love My Nail in Flirty Pink #1546
3. Apply nail art color in olive green – NA064 #23 (Plumeria White petals – make 5 petals on each nail)
4. Apply nail art color in white – NA064 #18 (inner petals – make 5 petals smaller than the first)
5. Apply nail art color in black – NA064 #15 (flower leaves)
6. Apply nail art color in white – NA064 #01 (for the brownish inner part of the flower and to add details to the leaves)
7. Finish off with a clear coat – just to seal off all the colors and give it a nice shine.

Make sure that you allow each coat to completely dry first before moving on to the next. The polish you see in my picture is a week old already, can you tell? I just remember to take it. This means that your hard work can last a long time depending on how well you take care of your nails.  ENJOY the compliments!

Nail Art | Watermelon Design

So those that know me well knows that I have a hard time keeping my nails long. I have a history of biting my nails. In grade school I do it constantly without any rhyme or reason however during the college years I notice that I only bite them when I am nervous. Especially when taking exams. And like the energize bunny, I keep biting and biting until there’s no more space LOL   yeah I am so bad. But on the bright side, I’ve been very very good these past months. No urge to bite them. As a matter of fact I began to get very annoyed by the long nails. It’s not comfortable when I play Tetris on my Blackberry, hard to type fast and not convenience when I prepare things to cook. Now I trim them down and I found that if I want to stop biting my nails then I must put polish on them.

24 Colors Nail Art Polish 2-Way Brush

I purchase some nail polish on eBay the other day for an affordable price. It was around $15 for a set of 24 colors with a 2-way brush. Free shipping and I don’t need to pay tax. Sure it takes awhile to arrive as it was shipped from China, although on eBay it states the seller ships out of Los Angelos. Whatever! I was in no rush so I just let that go. I thought it was really cheap, that is less than $1 a bottle. I don’t plan to use these color to paint my entire nails but for detail work/designs so I think they will last my quite sometime. It comes with a 2-way brush. One is like a normal brush and the other is a nail art pen.

The first design I tried with these color is the watermelon design. Perfect for Summer. I got lots of compliments on this design. The idea came from browsing Youtube and Google.

4. Apply nail art color in white – NA064 #23 (inner watermelon)
5. Apply nail art color in black – NA064 #24 (watermelon seeds)
6. Apply nail art color in white – NA064 #23 (watermelon seeds detail)
7. Finish off with the clear coat again – Sally Hansen Maximum Growth

Make sure that you allow each coat to completely dry first before moving on to the next. ENJOY the compliments!

Since the weather was really too extreme to be cooking anything indoors I opt to make very light meals at home and eat out here and there for the time being. And for my little sister who’s interested in what I ate today here it is.

Lunch was very simple, quick and easy. Flaky flat bread (the same one I used to make the Banana Roti Dessert) stuffed with scramble eggs and a sprinkle of fried garlic. For some reason I had a craving for hot coffee so I made that too.

For dinner I had grill salty fish (which I marinade a day ahead) with watermelon. I know some people will go “ewwww watermelon with rice?” Well I don’t care what you think LOL I mean we all have our opinion about certain dishes. Oh, and sometime I also like to add plain-o-water to my cold rice as well especially when it is paired with grill salty meat (beef, chicken, pork or fish).
