My brother and sisters also went along and we study about 2 hours each weekday after our normal English classes. Now I tried to keep my reading and writing skill current by reading Karaoke, writing song lyrics and blogging. I don't think my Khmer is that good but enough to carry a conversation in Khmer. I grew up in a family where my Father restrict us kids from speaking English inside the house. Perhaps it's because he wants to know what we are talking about too? :) It was a great decision by him as we is aware that we reside in the US already and so there's plenty of opportunity for us to learn the English language but if we don't reserve the Khmer way of speaking, reading and writing, we can totally loose it. In today's society, younger Cambodian-Americans are forgetting their culture and the ability to understand and grasp their customs. People like you are what seem like a "urban legend". Please keep up the good work. Even though I don't speak or write Khmer (hopefully I will though), at least I possess the knowledge and palette to cook Khmer food.
