Kroeung Khmer

Since I post my first recipe involving the use of my Mother’s lemongrass paste in my Cambodian Stir Fry Lemongrass Chicken I have been getting a lot of questions how to make lemongrass paste or what ingredients are used to make the paste. While the ingredients call for is not difficult to locate in some places the quantities of each ingredients does make a difference in the taste, color and texture of the lemongrass paste. I’ve decide to put up my Mother’s lemongrass paste (Kroeung) that I often have her make for me available for purchase for those who are interested.

My Mother’s Kroeung is made with all fresh ingredients with most of them growing in her backyard. There are no chemicals, preservatives, or additives. Available spicy and non-spicy. (Ingredients in the photos are for display only; not used in the making of the Kroeung.)

This lemongrass paste is widely used to make many authentic Cambodian classic dishes such as the following :

Cambodian Stir Fry Lemongrass Chicken
Grilled Lemongrass Chicken
Cambodian Spicy & Sour Beef Soup
Cambodian Fiery Stir Fry Lemongrass Quail
Roasted Pickled Fish in Banana Leaves
Cambodian Stuffed Chicken Wings
Stir-Fried Beef with Lemongrass
Khatiya’s Cambodian Beef Sticks
Cambodian Lemongrass Stuffed Cornish Game Hen
Cambodian Stir-Fried Lemongrass Noodle
Cambodian Chicken Curry Bread Bowl
Cambodian Popcorn Chicken
Cambodian Style Stir Fry Lemongrass

    Hi Khatiya,
How do I combine the order into a single order? Let say- 2 lb of Lemongrass Paste and 2 lb of Dried Catfish. Is there an option to add multiple items to a cart? It will be easier to pay with one payment and one shipment. I want to try your mom sausage. Is there a smaller order ( let say 10 sausages or less)? I want to try the smaller batch first.

    Thanks,
    Cole

    • Hi Cole,
Let me know what I can do with the combo order. Eventually I will have to look into a shopping cart for my store just so that it’s easier… I just need to figure out how to make the system calculate the appropriate shipping cost. I’ll get back to you with the details via email.

    Hi Khatiya,
Thank you very much for your quick reply. Is there a better way to contact you than through the blog?

I want to order 2 lb of lemongrass paste, 2 lb of dried catfish and 10 sausages. Please let me know how to pay for it in a single payment.

Oh, I used to have a camping gear website. I used to sale a lot of it before the 911 bombing in New Year. After the terrorist attacked, I sales very little so I closed the website. I used to know how to create the shopping cart. I wish that I still can help you on it. It has been a long time ago.

Anyway, let me know how to pay for it. Thanks.

    Khatiya,
I can see that you added the shopping cart. Good job!

My mother live at N/E side of Stockton. What side of Stockton do you mother live? Next time I visit my mother, I might stop by your mother house to pick up some goodies from her.

    • Cole,
Yes, I was playing around with the shopping cart and after many many tries, I finally got it to calculate the way it suppose to. :) Mother lives on the N/E side of Stockton as well… along Hammer Lane close to the Lion Shopping Center. If you are ever in the area, just let me know what and when you would like it and I will tell my Mother to have them ready for you.

    Katina,
Good deal! It is not very far from my mother house. She is at West Lane and Hammer Lane. Next time I go there, I will let you know. Maybe, I can pick up a few tips from her too.

My mother is a very good cooker too. She can make all kind of tradition Thai and Khmer dishes, but it is very tough to get the recipe from her. She never writes and measures anything when she cooks, but it is always tastes very good. I am not sure how she does it. She tries to give me instructions over phone several times, but it never turns out right. With lack of cooking talent, I do not have the proper touch as my mother.

I am very impress with your Khmer cooking knowledge. There are not many 29 years old Khmer lady have the knowledge to cook these tradition recipes anymore. My sister is in the mid 30’s and she is not very good in cooking either. As I cook more frequent, I hope that I can find the right touches!

Hey Khatiya, I really want some Kroeung to be delivered to me but I do not have nor use a cresit card. Can you please tell me if I can send you the money via mail first then can send it to me?

    Thank you,

  • Jacksonville

and one more thing….can i send you cash?

    • Jacksonville,
I can accept Money Order, Cashier’s Check or Personal Check but I can’t accept cash. It’s too risky to mail cash as it might get opened along the way.

  • Jacksonville

Understood, I will send you a money order then :) can you tell me what the total cost would be for three lbs?

  • Sindy

I would like to combine order to a single order as well. Can you calculate the order and the shipping for me. I would like to order a box of sausage, 2 orders of dried fish, and 2 orders of lemongrass. My zip code is 01845. Thanks!

    • Sindy,
The shopping cart that I have in place is design to do just that. Just add what you want and the quantity you like. It will then calculate everything including shipping. Be sure to place your order before Sunday to get Monday shipping.

I’m interested in the sausages. Can you please let me know if you ship to Canada. I’m still not sure if you do.
    Thanks in advance,
