As mentioned in my tweets I’ve been tackling some projects. This is an on going project but at least the major part of it is almost done. Will be sharing what that project is in my later post.

In the mist of things, during my breaks I managed to squeeze in some time to catch up on Mart Krissada (my favorite Thai actor ATM) lakorn called Plerng See Rong which translate to Rainbow Flames. It had just finish airing last Sunday January 17, 2010. There was a total of 14 episodes (each episode about 45 mins long). His co-star is Susie-Susira Angelina Nanna. This is my first time seeing Susie’s work. To me, what stand out was her accent in both Thai and English. She speaks Thai (too) clearly? It’s like sharp. Some might think it’s good because it’s nice and clear but other might just thinks that she is trying to remember her lines and it’s not natural. Either way it didn’t bother me but it was something I could not help notice. There is a spoiler at the end so don’t read it all the way if you don’t like spoiler.

Here’s my summary for Plerng See Rong เพลิงสีรุ้ง 2010

Tin Rath (Mart) was in a relationship with Kat (Nampeung) but due to family hardship Kat had to wed Tin’s father. She later had a son and Tin then distance himself by study abroad and later engaged with Rose (Bow). Tin’s father died and Kat was miserable because her only son Kuad (Alex) was not as she expected. He was gay. She can’t accept that fact due to her hi-society lifestyle and most importantly she is afraid Tin Rath might fine out. Luckily Kuad has a loving and understanding uncle Mai (Louis) who is Kat’s younger brother. Jom Kwan or Honey (Susie) is an only child who was abandon by her father’s strict Chinese family. She and her mother moved to America shortly after being rescued from the water by Tin Rath when Jom Kwan by her own grandma.

Years gone by and Jom Kwan returned to Thailand because her mother went into a new relationship and became pregnant. Her relationship with her father was still not good. She and Kuad became best friends due to their common family issues. Kuad told his mother that Jom Kwan is his girlfriend so that she doesn’t over beat him. Jom Kwan played along. However, his mother still did not believe him and one day witness her only son dressing up like a drag queen and performing on stage. It made her furious, upset, and extremely disappointed. Words were exchanged and Kuad decided to end his life by riding his motorcycle off a cliff. His mother then put the blame on Jom Kwan and labeled her as the bad influence. This is where the drama starts.

Tin Rath returns to the sad new and seek revenge with Jom Kwan. Jom Kwan later found out that her hero (the one that saved her from drowning) is Kuad’s older brother. To make her relationship with Kuad more realistic, she lied that she’s pregnant with Kuad. Of course Kat and Mai knows better that it isn’t true but to cover up with Tin and society she had to allow the lie to go on. In return Kat had promise Jom Kwan that she will not report her to her father who is desperately looking for her. Therefore, in Tin Rath’s eye, Jom Kwan is a poor, whore, and down low kinda girl who only seek money and fun. Revenge took it’s turn and Tin Rath began to shift to something deeper. His action was unstoppable and Jom Kwan had to confess that she was not pregnant. It just made the flames even hotter and as a result Tin rapped Jom Kwan. A couple of intimate moments led to Jom Kwan pregnancies. With this news Kat got extremely psycho. She fears that Tin Rath will leave her for Jom Kwan especially if he knows the truth that she isn’t a poor girl but instead the only daughter to a wealthy banker, who’s in fact trying to pursue her. But Kat’s heart is with Tin and had always been with Tin, so she claims. Her love for Tin was too strong that he caused her to make bad decisions like kicking Mai out and attempt to murder Jom Kwan. Tin on the other hand is blind-sided and seems to believe every single story Kat tells him. He got aggressive and physical with Jom Kwan. When she was rushed to the hospital by her close friends she ask them to lied to everyone that she and her baby is gone. This was probably Tin Rath turning point when he realized he killed his wife and baby. As Jom Kwan is no longer alive, Honey appears which shocked both Tin and Kat because Honey look so much like Jom Kwan. Of course it’s the same person but Jom Kwan and her father reconcile and Honey is the name that her father calls her. Now she is introduce as the Banker’s daughter. Drama began to unravel again as Tin tries to prove his love to Honey thinking she is the same person. Honey is playing hard to get and also wants Tin to learn his lesson for all those sorrow and pain he had caused.

One day Tin overheard Kat and Mai argument about the death of Kuad and Jom Kwan truth identity. In addition he also found out that Kat was the one who attempt to kill his wife and baby in the first place. His heart is now so long gone from Kat. This just upset Kat even more. Since she’s not going to get with Tin, then nobody will stand a chance. One last meal together turned into an ugly killing scene. Kat attempt to kill Tin. Thinking that he died, she wanted to join him with his death and slit her throat. Luckily Tin was still alive and rushed to the hospital but too late for Kat. She was pronounce dead at the scene. Honey still denies that she is the same person as Jom Kwan even at the verge of Tin’s death. However, once he was stable he sneaked out of the hospital. Honey showed up and the both had another intimate moment together. The next morning every body thinks that’s Tin was crazy and that is he seeing and saying things as Honey would never do that.

Honey is on her way to the airport to catch a flight to America but her father asked Tin to disguise as the driver and attempt to stop her plans. Honey was pissed off and struggled to break free but fainted and collapse shortly. Tin took her to the island where everyone else waited. The doctor (also Tin’s friend) examine her. He said to Honey that if she was the girl who spent the night with Tin’s a month ago when he first got out of the hospital, then she must be Jom Kwan and is now pregnant with Tin’s baby, again. This was something she can’t deny. The beach wedding was set up at sunset where they both shared their love together.

This is actually a remake of yet another old Thai Lakorn which came out probably in the early 90s. I have not seen the old version starring Off Pongpat (don’t recall the girl name) and dubbed in Khmer as Pleurng Snaeh Komnarch, as it came out prior to my Thai Lakorn addictions however I have heard that it was a hit when it aired. So when I heard there’s a remake I really wanted to see it. It just finish airing last weekend and I just finished watching it a couple days ago. The story had a lot of potentials and the characters played their role well especially for Boy since this was his first lakorn as the leading male however the director or producer didn’t do such a good job, at least in my opinion. It was dragging a lot in the beginning and then rushed toward the end. A bit too violent (domestic) so it might not be suitable for young children. I’m not going to spoil it for those who would still like to watch it.

Here’s my summary for Fai Ruk Arsoon ไฟรักอสูร 2009.

Kaew (Boy) is a fisherman who loves his wife Wan (Vicky) and daughter very much. Even though Wan is the jealousy and loud mouth talk of the town, Kaew still sacrifice everything and anything for his family. Wan always wanted to go to Bangkok and when they both saved enough money they headed to the city. While checking out shops and markets in the city they lost track of each other and when spotted one was on the opposite side of the road. When Kaew was trying to cross the street to get to his wife Kaew got hit by Vithoun’s (Ace) car. Vithoun took both of them into his house to care for his Kaew’s injured leg then offered them a place to stay. Little does Kaew know Vithoun got his eyes on Wan. He took her dining, tour the city, view the nightlight and after a few drinks along with some sweet talks Wan was willing to give it all. Later Kaew caught them both in bed together and he was outrage. He got physically with Vithoun but Wan ended up hitting her husband with a vase. Wan choose to stay with Vithoun in Bangkok while Vithoun kicked Kaew out of the house and sent him back to Krabi (where he came from).

Heartbroken Kaew returned to the village and nothing seem to make him feel better. He did not care about anything, not even his own daughter who was left to be taken care of by his neighbors and friend Pen (Bow). After some encouragement words from friends and neighbors in the village Kaew was able to pick himself up and started working as a seafood delivery man. Unfortunately, one day on his route he met a girl who resembles Wan so he automatically think that is her, more over she is about to get married, not with Vithoun but another rich guy.

Kaew got extremely upset and gather his friends together to come up with a plan to kidnap Wan. His plan was successful and the person who he thought was Wan was brought back to Krabi. She was torture, chained up, brutally hurt and humiliated in front of villagers. Bystander did not care as they were on Kaew side. They even think she deserves harder punishment than this. What does Wan have to say about this? She deny her identity and told Kaew along with others that they got the wrong person. Kaew refused to listen. He sexually assaulted her and chain her down so she doesn’t try to escape.

Will Kaew put his anger to the side and listen to what she has to say? If the girl he kidnapped is not his wife Wan, then who is she? Why does she look so much like his wife Wan? Is this the case of mistaken identity? You will have to watch it to find out.

Thai Lakorn: Sakul Ka

This Lakorn finished airing like a week ago and I just finished watching it last night. I knew it was coming to an end but it was not one of those Lakorn where I need to watch it the moment it was out. Why? Because it would have gone too quickly since most of the time I just fast forward. LOL

I had a lot of anticipation when this Lakorn was set to air after Buang Ruk Kamatape (starring: Bee Namtip & Pong Nattawut; a very good Lakorn, I highly recommend). Perhaps because I know it is a remake. I’m a sucker for remakes because I am curious to know if they are going to make changes to the storyline or if the new pairing is better than the first version. This is one of those titles that I don’t quiet remember the storyline so when I read the synopsis, it was a bit fuzzy. You can read the summary/synopsis on Sarnworld Wiki. Sakul Ka in Khmer translate to “Trokol Ka’ek”. The old version that came out I think around the early 90s holds the same title and was dubbed in Khmer as well.

Ok, my comments about this Lakorn? Don’t watch it. Skip it unless you are a die-hard fan of Mos or Vill. Vill character cries every freakin 5 minutes! It was just so annoying. I’m not making this up, you just watch and count the clock LOL She used up her pity points that even during the life & death scene I still wasn’t feeling her character. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Lakorn where they make the N’ek this weak all the way even until the ending, the last few seconds she still cries, WTH? Well, that’s how I feel. Also I thought I was mean wanting her character to die but turns out I wasn’t the only one yeah, it’s that bad. I was even rooting for the mean girl played by Ann Alicia to b*tch slap her cuz she deserves it and maybe she will come to her sense. LOL I don’t think the old version was this bad. Maybe the director/screen writer is trying to prove a point? Why did I kept watching until the end? Well the storyline isn’t that bad. It’s quite interesting. It’s Vill character, the only character I find annoying.

Watch it if you have dry eyes, maybe Vill crying scene will make you pity for her and cry along making your eyes naturally wet. This is the first and last time I am watching any of Vill’s Lakorn. Unless she get a better and stronger role then I just MIGHT consider it.

I just finish watching this lakorn today. The Khmer translation of this title would be “Trokol Nek Kpong Kpous”. According to the title of this Thai lakorn, I think it’s a remake of one that aired in the mid 90s. Although I didn’t get to watch the old version I did however see the preview (opening credits) and can still remember some of the lyrics from the chorus.

The summary that was release at the start of airing can be found at Sarnworld Wiki however as I watch it, the storyline went off on a tangent towards the end so it’s not the same. If you are those who only enjoy lakorn with a “kiss and slap” storyline, then this is not for you. This is a family drama and a bit on the sappy-sad side. There’s a lot of family values being taught in this lakorn emphasizing on family respect, endurance and relationship. The saying “blood is thicker than water” was clearly illustrated in this lakorn. Taew played her role very well (I believe this is her first lakorn as the leading actress). She is extremely good at crying scene. No matter how much I fast forward some scene, I still get emotional and choke up when I watch her cry on-screen. That’s one thing I like about watching drama in their native voice because you get to sort of feel the character more and it just looks natural and effortless

Although I felt that the ending was a bit of a rush (it was so different from the summary) I can’t really think of a better way to end it. I think it’s appropriate. There weren’t many sweet scene between Mart & Taew because of their status but the drama surrounding them still kept me glued to the screen.

Anyhow, I watch this lakorn because of Mart. Currently he is my favorite actor. It was nice to see him take on a more serious and mature role than those I’ve seen him in such as Sapai Look Tong with Janie and Mae Ka Kanom Waan with Cherry. I can’t wait to see Mart’s next lakorn.
